Energy Management System (EMS)

A set of automated controls and software that will monitor and optimise the use of energy in commercial buildings.  An EMS can reduce waste by adjusting heating and cooling usage.  A typical system will collect data from energy meters, analyse it and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.


Environmental Agents

Conditions other than indoor air contaminants that cause stress, comfort, and/or health problems (e.g., humidity extremes, drafts, lack of air circulation, noise, and over-crowding).


Exhaust Ventilation

HVAC term for mechanical removal of air from a portion of a building (e.g., a piece of equipment, room, or general area).
